Bay Area musician Hannah van Loon who performs as Tanukichan, releases a hazy pop song 'Make Believe' with frequent collaborator, Toro Y Moi's Chaz Bear on his Company Records label. In its just under 3 minute run time 'Make Believe' manages to create a distinctly nostalgic atmosphere with melodic guitar lines, fuzzy bass and ethereal vocals, its a succinct indie pop song with elements of shoegaze and dream pop. Lyrically the song is a clear rejection of the spiritual, an acceptance of a lack of faith and how for Hannah there is great value in that: “This song’s sentiment is ‘fuck religion, fuck belief, fuck believing in the future. I am so over people with spiritual inclinations or beliefs trying to convince me that things you can’t see are real, or that there is god out there to believe in.
